Mitraclip Procedures
MitraClip is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat significant mitral regurgitation (MR), a condition in which the mitral valve allows blood to leak backward into the heart. At Anahat Advanced and Comprehensive Cardiac Clinic, Navi Mumbai, Dr. Rajesh Matta provides evaluation and guidance for patients who may benefit from advanced mitral valve therapies.
The MitraClip procedure, also known as transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER), is performed through a catheter inserted into a blood vessel, usually through the groin. A small clip is carefully positioned on the mitral valve to reduce the leakage and improve blood flow. It avoids open-heart surgery and may be suitable for selected patients who are at increased surgical risk or meet specific clinical criteria.
Patients undergo detailed cardiac evaluation, including echocardiography, to determine whether MitraClip is appropriate. The procedure can help reduce symptoms such as breathlessness and fatigue and may improve quality of life in appropriately selected patients.
